A New Point of View

About a year ago I came across Zenni Optical as I was reading a blog. Given the fact that I'm a frugalista, I was, needless to say, ECSTATIC about finding a site where I could order prescription glasses for as low $8.00. Well today, I realized that I have about $130 in a flexible spending health care account that I need to use by the end of year or I will lose it so I decided to purchase three pairs of glasses.


This is the first pair that I ordered.
I had a similar pair to this that I loved but the munchkin broke them and I never replaced it. The basic frames (including prescription lenses) were $8 and I added an anti-reflective coating for an additional $4.95 bringing the total cost to $12.95.




I also wanted a pair of prescription sunglasses so I ordered these.
The frames were $9.95 (including the prescription lenses) and I added an 80% tint to make them sunglasses for an additional $4.95 bringing the cost to $14.90.




Now, I wanted a pair of brown shades as well, however I liked the look of these as glasses, so I opted for the best of both worlds and made these transitionals.
The frames were $8 (including the prescription lenses), I added an anti-reflective coating for $4.95 and the photocromic feature (the coating that makes them transition) was an additional $19, bringing this pair to $31.95.



So I got one pair of prescription glasses, a pair of prescription sunglasses and a pair of prescription transitional glasses for a whopping $64.75 (including $4.95 for shipping and handling)!! That's chump change compared to how much I paid for my current pair (about $180).

The real test will be how they look when I get them though. Either way, I'm excited!!!
